or P. E. Sibley (a.k.a. Pat Sibley) writing is a passion, or perhaps a compulsion. She was born, raised, and educated mostly in Orange County, California. Aided and abetted by parents who read, she became a voracious reader with her own library card at the age of four. She became interested in writing early as well. In second grade, she wrote her first short story. It was a third person account of an ant which ended rather abruptly when the main character was smashed by a foot.
Finishing high school, she happily moved away for college. She graduated from the University of California at Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Medieval History and Technical Theatre (both excellent choices for their inability of providing work opportunities). By the time she reached her mid-twenties, she was living a near-gypsy lifestyle, moving from one California city to another, and even spent a quarter at Penn State University in grad school.
She quit grad school (three times) and backpacked first around the United Kingdom, and then spent four months in touring youth hostels in Europe and the Middle East. Scotland became the preferred destination long before it became the tourist attraction for “Outlander” fans. `
She’s been employed in numerous occupations including climbing telephone poles for the phone company, picking oranges on a kibbutz in Israel, and managing a bookstore. She went back to school at Cal State University, Long Beach to prepare for a teaching certificate. She was accepted for an exchange program to do her student teaching in Hampshire, England (which was the main reason for attending CSULB).
After escaping a position teaching high school history and theatre, she moved numerous times more ever northward, working in a variety of positions from Central California, to San Francisco, and then to the Sierra Nevada mountains. She now resides in rural Eastern Washington State with her retired husband, a wolf-canine mix, a cattle dog, and a cat that believes she is really a dog. When not writing, or working the dreaded day job, she enjoys reading, photography, music, and gardening.
