About the Author

Sheila Unwin
It took me several years to figure out what I was meant to do in this world. All of my prior experiences led to my decision to teach. I have taught for 3 years in a regular education classroom with 1st and 7th grade students. I currently teach 7th grade literature for the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School district. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Ottawa University. I am currently working on a Masters of Education in Curriculum Instruction and Design. I have been married for 15 years to a wonderful man, Evo Terra, and we have one perfect child, NJ. Although we have lived a great many places for the present time we call Cottonwood, AZ home. Hobbies include a love of bugs and nature, reading, skiing, hockey, white water rafting, and hiking. I absolutely love to travel and see all the different cultures throughout our wonderful world. Currently residing in my house are several snakes, turtles, a cat and dog and any other animal I can find.

Lorrie Mennenga
I have taught for 5 years in the special education department. I currently teach special education 7th & 8th grade students math and language arts for the Deer Valley Unified School district. What qualifies me to teach is a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education from University of Nebraska at Kearney. I have had an amazing total of 11 foster children in 15 years, from each child, I have learned quite a bit. I have been married for 14 years to Michael Mennenga, we were originally from rural Nebraska and have recently moved to the sun soaked area of Phoenix, AZ. I enjoy reading and hanging out with family and friends when I am not in the classroom. When I get a chance, I enjoy traveling the world and scuba diving. I relax at home with my cat and a Yellow Naped Amazon parrot both of which are spoiled rotten.
